SECTION 11ALICE BLANCHE TIMOTHY (1867 - 1968) Alice Blanche, the sixth child and fifth daughter of Peter Vincent Timothy and Elizabeth Hutchings was born on the 12th March 1867 at Market Street, Caddington. She was the third child to be born there. She used to send me £10 on each birthday but I do not recall ever seeing her, nor any detail of when she died, though she lived until she was 101. She was quite small, as there is a photograph of her at her 100th birthday party at the home where she was then.
She was reported as once saying that the family always moved about every two years. I believe that she finally lived in Sussex, perhaps with Mabel Constance, her sister. She was recorded on the 1771 Census at 28 Worship Street, St Leonards, Hackney, London with the family and on the 1881 Census at 20 Princess Street, Southport, Lancs. as being with her mother and other of the children whilst her father was recorded as being in Rochdale Road, Manchester, at the same time, with Mary Cook. She was unmarried. Birth Registration Detail:- Ref. VICTOR LEOPOLD TIMOTHY (1871 - 1893) Victor Leopold Timothy, the seventh child and third son of Peter Vincent Timothy and Elizabeth Hutchings was born on the 19th February 1871 at 72 Worship Street, Shoreditch, London. Birth Registration detail:- Reg No. (unreadable) on the 11th of March 1871 in the Sub-district of Holywell, Shoreditch by his father. He was a seagoing engineer and it was said that he died aged 22 from a poisoned hand, in 1893, but the death certificate gives more detail. He died in Hastings and the death was registered by his younger brother, Gustave Vincent Timothy. 1891 census he was recorded as being at 6 School Street, Barrow in Furness, now in Cumbria, as a boarder, single, aged 20, Civil eng. apprentice, born Middlesex, London - his brother Gustave was also there during the census, no doubt they were there due to the Barrow Shipbuilding/Engineering industries. All that is known is that he was an Engineer, married Christina Annie Sarah Hardie when he was 21 and Christina was 19, and died in Washington USA. He was a witness to the marriage of his sister Beatrice Eveline to Sidney Hall Colman in July 1894 at Manchester. Birth Registration details:- Ref No. 468 Reg on the 17th December 1872 at Sub-district of Lee in Lewisham, Kent by his Father. 1881 Census North Meols, Southport, Lancs. 20 Princess Street Elizabeth Timothy Wife 42 Brokers Wife Edith L. Ref RG12 3482 119 167 It is not known when he went to the USA but a photograph has recently been sent to me which appears to be of his daughter Cora, taken when aged 25, and it appears to have been taken in the early 1920's. Nothing else is known of her and I have not been able to trace any further information about Gustave or his wife Christina. Gustave died 27th November 1925 in Washington, USA. MABEL CONSTANCE TIMOTHY 1874 - August 1970) Mabel Constance Timothy, the ninth child and fifth daughter of Peter Vincent Timothy and Elizabeth Hutchings was born on the 28th February 1874 at 3 Camden Villas, Granville Park, Lewisham, London. She came to stay at Carrs Edge, Pownall Park, Wilmslow at least once when my mother, Mabel Irene Martin, was ill in hospital, and possibly later as I assume that the only photographs we have of her were taken at some stage other than when mother had been in hospital.
She was very tall and straight, like her sister, Beatrice Eveline when she was younger, but unlike her sister Blanche, who in later life, at least, looked quite small. A photograph of Mabel Irene Martin, my mother, Beatrice Eveline Colman, my grandmother, and Mabel Constance Timothy (on the right) was taken at Wilmslow, but no date is given. She died in August 1970 at Hove, Sussex. It was said that she had been the Matron of a Military Hospital in Manchester in the First World War but this has not been traced. She, like her sister Blanche, was unmarried. Birth Registration Detail:- Ref No. 57 Reg on the 9th April 1874 in the Lee Sub-district of Lewisham, Kent. Registered by her mother.
